Kirikiriroa is the Maori name for Hamilton.  We are proud to bring you this honey from three Hamilton City Council iconic parks - The Hamilton Gardens, Hamilton Zoo and the Taitua Arboretum.  Try at taste of Hamilton!

Some of the honey from these apiary sites goes back to Council to be sold at Hamilton Gardens and some is going to the zoo. Honey is a special treat available to some of the zoo animals and the zoo keepers are very enthusiastic about using the Kirikiriroa honey.

Try a taste of Hamilton today!

Many of the Kirikiriroa jars of the current batch have some frosting around the edge of the jar. This is due to the presence of air trapped between the side of the jar and the honey and crystals forming. It does not affect the taste of the honey.

  • Taste:   Think of a summer picnic! This honey tastes of caramel, lemon pith with a vanilla Crème brûlée aftertaste.
  • Colour:   Shimmering light caramel
  • Texture:  Velvity smooth
  • Smell:  Floral and licorice aroma

Here is Some Customer Feedback:

"We love your products.  We currently use your Kiririroa honey on our side of baby heirloom carrots , with butter and crushed macadamias.  At Victoria St Bistro we try to use local products not  just to support local producers but also to create a menu that that represents the true terroir of our region while sacrificing nothing in quality, which is exactly what Sweetree does. Sweetree make an outstanding product, our favourite is Kirikiriroa, I love the fact it is made from hives in three of Hamilton's most iconic parks, love the deep yet clean flavour and the firm but melting texture."
- Andrew Clarke, multi award winning chef, Victoria Street Bistro, Hamilton

I love your honey, the main reason is that it's raw (unheated).  My relatives from Singapore and Malaysia just couldn't get enough of it.   To me it doesn't leave an after taste like some honey does.  So good over my oat porridge.  I am a breast cancer survivor, I am keeping off sugar and substituting honey for  my sugar.  Will be putting in another order soon.
