Sweetree's Ohui Manuka is collected from October to December from seaside Ohui, nestled between Pauanui and Whangamata, on the eastern side of the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula.  Our apiary site is on the same property as Ohui Vineyard.  As a ‘place of meeting’, Ohui brings together land and people, who in turn, delivers the unique and special taste of the Coromandel (both wine and now honey!).
Manuka honey is sought after for its natural anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties.  Our Ohui Manuka honey will be tested for MG of 177 and NPA of  7.7 at Analytica Laboratory once it was packed.  Find out more about 'Active Manuka' and understand these ratings here.

Our Ohui Manuka is light in colour because it is a coastal manuka.  Manuka honeys vary tremendously in colour depending on the location harvested, from a very light amber in the southern Hawkes Bay to very dark honey from the north.

Here are our tasting notes from this seasons Ohui Manuka:

  • Taste:
Molasses tones with a subtle Manuka taste.  Very sweet notes that linger on the back of your palate.
  • Colour:
Shiny golden hues with a wonderful lustre
  • Texture:
Soft, almost oil like texture
  • Food Match:
Pair with citrus.  Perfect in a lemon honey drink or to sweeten tea.

2014 Ohui Manuka won 'Silver' at the National Beekeepers Association Honey Competition in the 'Beekeepers Special Reserve' category!
